Putting BBC Cymru and Welsh-speaking journalism on the global stage
In October 2019, BBC Cymru moved into a new and state-of-the-art broadcasting house in Cardiff designed by world-famous architects Foster+Partners. By 2020, the identity for their leading news programme, however, was five years out of date.
Stereo re-engineered the identity for S4C’s flagship news programme for the modern age, all while ensuring older audiences stayed loyal to a nationally treasured news source. Light became the central organising metaphor for the most informative investigative journalism, Welsh identity and the 24-hour news cycle.
Stereo took full creative responsibility for the project, encompassing everything from 3D animation to panorama photography to visual design systems. Working closely with the Newyddion team, our solution struck the perfect balance between adaptability to fast-moving events and strength of recognition.
