Motion Designer

job description

As a Motion Designer you are someone who’s looking to make an impact, and play a key role in making rich, moving experiences for our clients. You thrive in a fast paced environment and are able to execute at speed. You can adapt your working approach and style from 2D motion graphics, to 3D animation and short form video editing projects, and are keen to get involved and contribute at multiple stages of the creative process - collaborating with creatives and designers.

You believe there’s a meaning and a purpose behind every animated action and key frame but you are also open to new ideas and ways of thinking - experimenting and challenging your own work is second nature.

Our portfolio spans identities, campaigns, motion narratives and digital innovation, so you’ll need to think holistically and have a broad creative curiosity. You’ll be part of a wider team supporting Seniors and Leads, but will also need to show initiative and self-motivation to work independently when required. You’ll guide more junior members of the studio and inspire the whole team with your work. You’ll be comfortable maintaining an ego-free environment and approach all feedback positively and collaboratively.

  • Create best in class motion for brand identities, campaigns and animation projects, able to comfortably work in solo on smaller briefs, and support the team across both 2D and 3D animation builds.

  • Edit short form video led projects and cut mood films for pitches.

  • Create audio beds using sourced and supplied audio content.

  • Produce motion based internal marketing materials for social channels, website case studies and new business platforms.

  • Support the wider creative and design teams to develop concepts and treatments, and produce storyboards.

  • Confidently present ideas and motion back to the wider creative teams as well as external clients and partners.

  • Keep up to date with the latest motion and design trends and champion new ways of working within the studio.

  • Act as a line manager to junior motion designers and interns. Assisting them with their own personal development, making sure they possess and develop the necessary skills, tools and processes to succeed in their own roles.

  • Be able to manage your time across multiple motion projects, and deliver to different timescales.

  • Help maintain the standard in the department for levels of craft, attention-to-detail and ingenuity.

  • You will report to the motion/senior motion designer and where needed support in the running of smaller scaled motion projects. As well as input into project scopes and estimates.

  • Understanding of the importance of brand systems, tone of voice and guidelines.
